Paying for Graduate School

Whether you’re going back to school after several years in the workforce or continuing through after obtaining your undergraduate degree, selecting a graduate degree involves a lot of thought on what’s right for you. Since education is one of the most important investments you'll ever make, don’t let the price tag be the only deciding factor.

By choosing Manhattan College, a nationally-ranked leader in return on investment, you'll get the added value of a school that launches graduates to success. The investment you make in your education at Manhattan College will pay you back in the form of higher salaries and greater opportunities over the course of your career.

Here are some ways to make graduate education more affordable for you and your family:

(from the office of Financial Aid Administration)

  • State & Federal Aid

Scholarships and grants are a great way for you to save on your tuition bill. Luckily, Manhattan College offers a wide range of state and federal aid to help you pay for college.

View this page to find the perfect options for you. And don’t hesitate to contact our financial aid experts if you have any questions along the way.
  • Don’t forget your FAFSA

Submit your FAFSA. It’s the key to getting work-study programs and unsubsidized Stafford loans, which have lower interest rates than private loans. Without filling out your FAFSA, you won’t be eligible for any of this valuable financial aid. Make sure to fill out your FAFSA before the deadline, so we can determine your financial aid options.

  • For Veterans

Are you a veteran, service member, or a dependent of one? Air Force ROTC and the Yellow Ribbon Program are two programs that offer financial assistance. Visit this page to learn more about eligibility for these programs and how to apply.

  • Get an on-campus job

If you filed your FAFSA, you may be eligible for a work-study position on campus. Working on campus is a great way to gain experience to add to your resume while making money. There are jobs for all majors and interests. Visit this page to learn more about campus employment.

Another great option is a graduate assistantship. A GA position will not only help finance your graduate degree, but provide you with professional experience in the higher education work environment. Find out more information about qualifying for a GA position and how to apply.

With the graduate assistant position I work 20 hours a week, and they pay for my classes- which is great financially. I work in the Center for Academic Success. It's rewarding to see a student come in not really understanding a topic and seeing them leave fully comprehending, and just seeing a light click with them. That has been very rewarding.
