Program Details

Manhattan College’s International Pathway Program (IPP) supports international students in their efforts to improve their English language skills while earning credit toward graduation.

Offered during the Fall and Spring semesters, the IPP provides 18-21 hours of English classes per week in addition to one to two credit-bearing courses that correspond to student proficiency levels. Managed exclusively by Manhattan College, the IPP gives students maximum support at the institution.

The Manhattan College IPP consists of two levels, level 005 and level 006. Each semester-long level is designed to ensure that students have the opportunity to jumpstart their academic journeys at Manhattan College in a supported yet challenging environment.

IP 005

Students who have an IELTS score of at least 5.0, a TOEFL score of at least 60, or receive a score of at least 3.0 on the Manhattan College IPP Placement Exam and have met all other admissions requirements are eligible to enroll in IPP 005.

Students in level 005 will be enrolled in 21 hours of English language instruction per week in addition to taking one three-credit course. After completing level 005 of the IPP, students can enroll in level 006 of the IPP for the next semester.

IP 006

Students who have an IELTS score of at least 5.5, a TOEFL score of at least 70, or receive a score of at least 3.7 on the Manhattan College IPP Placement Exam and have met all other admissions requirements to enroll in IPP 006.

Students in level 006 will be enrolled in 18 hours of English language instruction per week in addition to taking two three-credit courses. After completing level 006, students are eligible to enroll for a full undergraduate study course for the next semester.

Students who complete IPP 006 must attain a “C” or better in credit courses in order for credits to transfer to Manhattan College degree studies.

Students who wish to enter the Manhattan College School of Engineering after the International Pathway Program must apply for the School of Engineering separately and meet the School of Engineering admissions requirements.
