Scholarships & Prizes

Dr. Poyin Auyeung Memorial Scholarship

Poyin AuyeungThe Dr. Poyin Auyeung Memorial Scholarship Fund for Research and Travel in Art History is an $800 award that assists current art history majors and minors who are in need of funding for research, study abroad and travel to conferences.

The scholarship was established in memory of Dr. Poyin Auyeung, who served as an assistant professor of art history from 2009 until her death in May 2013. During her four years at the College, her enthusiasm and dedication to her students and to the Visual and Performing Arts Department never wavered. Auyeung will be remembered for her laughter, collegial spirit and academic excellence in art history. She was instrumental in growing the art history major at Manhattan, attracting students from across the country and around the world to study art and architecture in New York City.

Auyeung encouraged her students to go beyond the classroom by visiting museums and art galleries, or taking research trips abroad. She was aware of the limited financial means of many students, yet encouraged them to fuel their passions and to find ways to earn grants and scholarships for travel. The Visual and Performing Arts Department honors her legacy through this award.
