Study in Paris, France, with Manhattan University faculty and explore the city’s enduring influence on Western theology, philosophy and spiritual thought.

This faculty-led program examines the lives of holy women and men, the development of sainthood and the broader intellectual traditions shaped by Parisian institutions and thinkers.

Through on-site engagement with churches, historic neighborhoods and academic spaces, students experience how religious ideas and ethical perspectives have evolved within one of Europe’s most significant cultural centers.

## Dates Offered

This is a two-week program offered during winter break.

## Courses and Credits

This program is open to all majors.

- RELS 200/300: Paris, Religion, and the Intellectual Life, 3 credits

This course examines the influence of major intellectual figures associated with the University of Paris and the École Normale Supérieure on the development of Western theology, spirituality and philosophy. Students also explore the work of notable artists whose creations engage spiritual and ethical themes, observing how ideas move across disciplines and historical periods.

Throughout the program, students visit academic institutions and explore the neighborhoods, classrooms and cultural environments in which these thinkers lived and worked. By situating these figures within their historical and geographic context, students gain a deeper understanding of how place, history and community shaped their contributions to the Western intellectual tradition.
