# Quality Science Minor
**Manhattan University's Quality Science minor prepares you to ensure the medicines, medical devices, and health products people rely on are safe and effective.**
Medicines, dietary supplements, and medical devices only help patients when they are made right every time. The Quality Science minor teaches you how the pharmaceutical and medical device industries make sure their products meet quality and safety standards, through a partnership with Pathway for Patient Health, a consortium of chief quality officers from leading life sciences companies. You'll graduate with a Certified Quality Science Professional (CQSP) micro-credential, industry mentoring, and access to a hiring platform built for internships and jobs in the field.

## What Sets Us Apart
Medical technology is moving fast, and every new drug, supplement, and device that reaches a patient still has to be made right, batch after batch. That is the job of quality science, and it is how companies earn patient confidence and trust. Manhattan University's Quality Science minor was built as a cooperative education model with Pathway for Patient Health, a nonprofit consortium of industry partners, so what you learn comes straight from the people who do this work: two courses on campus, three developed by the industry, and a professional credential when you finish.
Courses Written by Industry Leaders
Three of your five courses were developed by the Pathway Chief Quality Officer Team, the executives responsible for quality at pharmaceutical and medical device companies. You take them online, asynchronously, as Manhattan University courses.
Earn the CQSP Micro-Credential
Earn at least 70% in each Pathway course and pass your Manhattan University courses, and you'll graduate with the Certified Quality Science Professional (CQSP) micro-credential. Score 95% or higher in all three for honors.
A Direct Line to Top Employers
Pathway gives students enrolled in the quality science minor access to its hiring platform, where partner companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Baxter, Cook Medical, Illumina, and Thermo Fisher Scientific recruit interns and new hires.
Mentoring From Working Professionals
Pathway also gives minor students mentoring from industry professionals, with a chance to ask real questions about career paths, day-to-day work, and what it takes to get hired.
Learn the Why Behind the Rules
You'll start with why global quality regulations exist, then learn how products are designed, validated, and tested in clinical trials, how to design risk out of a process, and how to investigate when something fails.
Business Acumen Meets Lab Science
Your two in-person Manhattan University courses, one in business and one in laboratory science, give you the grounding to understand what the pharmaceutical industry needs. Options include accounting, economics, biology, chemistry, and physics.

## Why Study Quality Science at Manhattan University?
Quality science underpins every safe medicine and reliable medical device. It covers how a product is designed, how risks are found and controlled, how clinical trials are run, how manufacturing scales up without losing yield or consistency, and how a company proves through validation that its process works every time. Most people don't learn any of this until they are already on the job. In this minor, you learn it on campus, and you learn it from the industry itself. Chief quality officers at pharmaceutical and medical device companies developed the three Pathway courses, and your two Manhattan University courses in business and laboratory science give you the context to understand what those companies actually need.
The minor was built for students who want careers in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. Alumni of the program have launched careers in research and development, clinical science, sales, and quality assurance, and by keeping medicines safe and effective, they are filling a critical need. You'll finish with a Certified Quality Science Professional micro-credential, mentoring from professionals in the field, and access to a hiring platform where Pathway's partner companies recruit interns and new employees.

## Why Study in New York City
The New York metro area has one of the world's largest concentrations of pharmaceutical and life sciences companies. Pfizer is headquartered in Manhattan, Regeneron is a short drive up the Hudson in Westchester, and across the river in New Jersey, long nicknamed the nation's medicine chest, you'll find Johnson & Johnson, Merck, Bristol Myers Squibb, and Novartis, along with the medical device makers, contract manufacturers, and testing labs that support them. For students in the Quality Science minor, that puts the companies you study in class, including partners recruiting through Pathway's hiring platform, within commuting distance of campus.
