What Set's Us Apart

what-sets

STEM-Designated Program

Mathematics is a federally STEM-designated degree, signaling rigorous quantitative training and, for eligible international students, extended OPT work authorization after graduation.

Close Faculty Mentorship

Small classes mean you build lasting relationships with professors who know you by name, guide your research, and mentor you across multiple courses and beyond graduation.

A Broader Curriculum Than Our Size Suggests

Because mathematics supports so many STEM programs at Manhattan, we offer a wider range of advanced undergraduate courses than most small programs can.

Faculty-Mentored Research

Work alongside faculty on funded research projects, present at national conferences, and co-author peer-reviewed publications before you graduate.

Built for Interdisciplinary Paths

Design tailored pathways that pair mathematics with engineering, computer science, finance, economics, education, or psychology, with faculty guidance at every step.

Award-Winning Teacher-Scholars

Learn from faculty recognized by Manhattan and the MAA, who stay current with research and innovations in undergraduate mathematics education.

The Manhattan University Difference

What Sets Us Apart

The Mathematics program at Manhattan University combines the close mentorship of a small department with a breadth of advanced coursework rarely found at programs its size. As a STEM-designated program, it develops rigorous analytical and problem-solving skills through proof-based and applied study, supported by faculty who are both active scholars and award-winning teachers, and by a community where students are known and supported.

Choose the Mathematics Degree That Fits Your Goals

**The mathematics program offers two bachelor's degrees, a concentration, and a minor, so you can shape your study of computing around the career you want.**

### Bachelor of Science in Mathematics

The most comprehensive path is pairing the full mathematics core with physics and laboratory science. The B.S. offers the strongest preparation for graduate study and mathematically intensive careers.

### Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics

The same rigorous mathematics core with greater flexibility in your remaining coursework, leaving room to pursue a second field such as finance, computer science, chemistry, or education.

### Concentration in Applied Mathematics

A 24-credit, seven-course sequence that complements a major in another discipline and prepares you to apply mathematics directly in the workplace, with more depth than the minor.
