# Integrated Marketing Communication B.S.

**Turn strategy into stories that engage people and markets worldwide.**

Today, brands reach audiences across digital, social, video, audio, and data-informed platforms, and the people who lead them must be both strategists and storytellers. Manhattan University's Bachelor of Science in Integrated Marketing Communication brings together the AACSB-accredited O'Malley School of Business and the Kakos School of Arts and Sciences in one cohesive major, combining marketing strategy, communication theory, media production, and analytics. Choose a track in Content Creation or Artificial Intelligence in Marketing and Communication, and graduate ready to design, launch, and measure campaigns that move people.

## What Sets Us Apart

Most degree programs only teach one aspect of a career in marketing and/or communications. Manhattan University’s integrated marketing and communications degree shows students that today’s leaders must think like a strategist and work like a creator and storyteller, crossing between brand strategy, content creation, social media, and analytics in the same week. Faculty from two schools built our integrated marketing communications major to reflect that reality, and it is one of fewer than two dozen programs of its kind in the country.

$165,780 Median Salary

Advertising, promotions, and marketing managers earn a median salary of $165,780, with about 36,300 openings projected each year through 2035 for people who can lead campaigns across every channel (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics).

Two Schools, One Degree

Business strategy from the AACSB-accredited O'Malley School of Business and storytelling and media production from the Kakos School of Arts and Sciences, taught as one program because that's how the field actually works.

Choose Your Track

Pick the track that fits you. **The Content Creation track** builds skills in video, audio, design, and multimedia storytelling. **The Artificial Intelligence** track focuses on marketing analytics, predictive consumer analysis, and AI-assisted strategy.

The Creative Media Hub

Produce real campaign content in the George I. Alden Trust Creative Media Hub, where advanced digital media production technology and collaborative learning spaces let you learn on the same tools the industry uses.

A Major Few Schools Offer

Fewer than two dozen universities in the country offer an undergraduate degree in integrated marketing communications, and few of them combine a full AACSB business core with hands-on media production the way this one does.

The Full Business Core

You'll take the same AACSB-accredited business core as every O'Malley business student, from accounting and finance to management, business law, and analytics, so you understand the company behind the campaign, not just the campaign.

The Manhattan Advantage

## Why Study Integrated Marketing Communication at Manhattan University

The major starts from a simple idea: you can't run a good campaign if you only understand half of it. So you'll study marketing the way business students do, with courses in consumer behavior, marketing research, and digital marketing strategy, and you'll study communication the way media students do, with courses in persuasion, brand communication, social media strategy, and media production. The two departments planned the curriculum together, so the strategy and creative courses speak to each other instead of living in separate buildings.

You'll also take the liberal arts seriously, because good marketing communication depends on understanding people. Psychology, sociology, and philosophy courses give you a real sense of how audiences think and what responsible messaging looks like. From there, you choose a track. Content Creation is for students who want to make things: video, audio, design, and multimedia stories built in the Creative Media Hub. Artificial Intelligence in Marketing and Communication is for students who want to work with data, using analytics, predictive consumer analysis, and AI tools to sharpen strategy. Three electives let you go deeper in whichever area interests you most.

Senior year, you put it all together in a capstone where you build a complete integrated marketing communication campaign from the ground up: market research, audience analysis, messaging across platforms, and analytics that show whether it worked. It's the same process you'll follow on the job, and you'll graduate with a portfolio to prove it. Graduates go on to careers in marketing, advertising, public relations, social media management, brand strategy, content creation, and marketing analytics.

## Why Study in New York City

The advertising industry got its nickname from a New York City street, and it still runs from here. Omnicom, one of the world's largest advertising and marketing holding companies, is headquartered in Manhattan, alongside the media companies whose platforms carry the campaigns, from NBCUniversal and The New York Times to Condé Nast and Hearst, and the New York offices of Google, Meta, and Spotify. The brands are here too: American Express, Estée Lauder, and Verizon in the city, PepsiCo just up the road in Westchester. For students in the major, that means the agencies, media companies, and brands you study in class are a subway ride from campus, and so are the internships, client projects, and first jobs that come with them.

 ## Integrated Marketing Communication: From Strategy to Story

An integrated marketing communication education at Manhattan University builds skills across the whole arc of a campaign, from the first piece of audience research to the final report on what worked. Every course strengthens one of six core competencies, developed through client projects, studio and lab production, and campaign work rather than lecture alone. Together they produce graduates who can plan a campaign, make it, and prove that it moved people.

Campaign Strategy

Learn to build a plan before you build a post. Set objectives, choose the right mix of advertising, public relations, digital, and promotional channels, and align every message with what the organization needs to achieve.

Market and Audience Research

Good campaigns start with understanding people. Use marketing research, consumer behavior theory, and data analysis to identify target audiences, assess market opportunities, and ground your creative decisions in evidence rather than guesswork.

Content Creation and Storytelling

Make the content, not just the plan for it. Write, design, shoot, and edit persuasive pieces for print, web, social, video, and audio, and learn to carry one brand message clearly across every platform.

Digital Media, Analytics, and AI

Work with the tools the industry runs on. Evaluate digital platforms, read campaign analytics, and use artificial intelligence in research, content, and measurement to see what a campaign did and why.

Business and Brand Strategy

Connect the campaign to the company. Tie your communication work to brand positioning, competitive strategy, and the financial realities behind every budget, so you can make the case for your ideas in the language leadership speaks.

Ethical and Responsible Communication

Persuasion carries responsibility. Examine the ethical questions behind targeting, data use, representation, and AI-generated content, and learn to practice marketing communication that respects the people it reaches, in keeping with our Lasallian mission.

Integrated Marketing Communication students learn from two faculties: the Department of Marketing and Management in the O'Malley School of Business and the Department of Communication, Sound and Media Arts in the Kakos School of Arts and Sciences. The marketing faculty teach research, consumer behavior, and strategy the way the AACSB business core demands, and the communication faculty bring professional experience in public relations, advertising, digital storytelling, and media production. Both teach in small classes, mentor students through client projects and internships, and see senior campaigns through from first brief to final presentation.

About

## One Major, Two Schools

The Integrated Marketing Communication major was developed jointly by faculty in management and marketing and in communication, sound and media arts, a collaboration between the O'Malley School of Business and the Kakos School of Arts and Sciences. The AACSB-accredited O'Malley School of Business anchors the business core, marketing strategy, and analytics coursework, and the Kakos School of Arts and Sciences brings communication theory, digital storytelling, and hands-on media production in the George I. Alden Trust Creative Media Hub. Grounded in the Lasallian Catholic mission and located near the heart of New York City, the two schools offer one degree that teaches the field the way it is practiced.
