Partners and Programs

The Center of Optimal College Readiness (COCR) has continued their partnerships with several local schools. The center has placed students in schools where they provide outreach tutoring, mentoring, help with academic counseling and college application-related work. Among others, we currently have students placed at In-Tech Academy, City College Academy of the Arts, and Public School 7.

The Center of Optimal College Readiness has partnered with the following organizations:

Kids 2 College

  • The Kids 2 College Program brings early college awareness and a college-going culture to communities across the country. The Sallie Mae Fund provides the national curriculum and training free of charge to schools and community groups.
  • The COCR program facilitated the partnership between Kids 2 College, Manhattan College and the St. Rose of Lima School.
  • The COCR program and Kids 2 College provide graduate students an opportunity to enable middle-school students to become college-bound.
  • COCR will work with all the partners involved to organize the Kids 2 College Days.

Riverdale House and In-Tech Academy

  • The COCR program has an active role in the Out of School Time (OST) grant and the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) grant.
  • The Out-of-School Time (OST) Program provides a mix of academic, recreational and cultural activities afterschool, during holidays and summer vacation for young people enrolled in grades K-12. The program, which is currently located at InTech Academy, is free of charge. OST programs provide:
    • Separate programs/activities based upon the student's interest
    • Quality programs with trained staff in a supportive environment
    • Homework help and tutoring
    • A schedule that meets the needs of working parents
    • Healthy snacks for all participants
    • The grants provide an after-school program for 135 6-8 grade students; the focus will be STEM, leadership development and healthy living.
  • Some academic enrichment will be provided by COCR through our homework help tutors.

Social Outreach Program

  • The Social Outreach Program provides motivational seminars for middle school and high school students that attend some of New York City’s low performing school. The seminars’ mission is to help students overcome the many challenges faced by inner-city youth and increase the college-bound culture at each of the schools. All seminars encourage students to adhere to the Social Outreach Program’s three values; worth ethic, faith, commitment.
  • The COCR program provides ongoing guidance and financial support to the Social Outreach Program.
