Founded in 1885, [Tau Beta Pi](https://www.tbp.org/home.cfm) is the nation's second-oldest honor society and the only engineering honor society representing the entire engineering profession. It recognizes students of superior scholarship and exemplary character and seeks to foster a spirit of liberal culture in engineering colleges. Tau Beta Pi sponsors an annual convention and produces a quarterly magazine, *The Bent*.

Since the Manhattan University chapter was founded in 1967, more than 2,000 members have been initiated into the New York Xi chapter of Tau Beta Pi.
