## Beta Beta Beta

**National honor organization for students in biology**

Commonly known as TriBeta, [Beta Beta Beta](http://www.tri-beta.org/) is dedicated to improving the understanding and appreciation of biological study and extending boundaries of human knowledge through scientific research. Since its founding in 1922, more than 200,000 people have been accepted into lifetime membership, and more than 670 chapters have been established throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.

Manhattan Universityâ&#128;&#153;s original chapter was founded in 1975 in cooperation with a joint Biology Department from the University of Mount Saint Vincent. After the two colleges parted ways in the mid-2000s, Manhattan University was chartered as the Chi Theta chapter of TriBeta in 2008.

TriBeta is active in organizing events and fundraisers to support causes including the protection and preservation of Van Cortlandt Park, and funding cancer research.

### Eligibility

To qualify for membership, undergraduates must have:

- a major in biology
- a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better at Manhattan University
- a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better in all biology courses at Manhattan University
- completed at least two courses above the level of general biology
