## A True Campus in New York City

Many colleges claim proximity to New York City. Manhattan University is actually part of it.

Our campus sits within New York City’s five boroughs and is located next to a subway station, providing easy access to Manhattan and the rest of the city. Yet unlike many urban institutions, Manhattan offers a traditional college campus experience — a central quad, green spaces, residence halls, and a strong sense of community.

Here, students study on the quad, meet friends between classes, and take part in campus traditions — all while living in one of the most dynamic cities in the world.

That combination is what we call **the Jasper Promise**.

## Riverdale: An Oasis in New York City

Manhattan University is located in Riverdale, one of New York City’s most scenic and residential neighborhoods.

Surrounded by tree-lined streets and overlooking the Hudson River, the neighborhood offers a peaceful environment for studying and living while remaining connected to the energy of the city.

Nearby you'll find:

- Van Cortlandt Park, one of New York City’s largest parks
- Local restaurants, cafés, and shops
- Scenic walking and biking paths
- Easy public transit to Manhattan and beyond

Best of all, midtown Manhattan is just 35 minutes away, making it easy for students to access internships, cultural landmarks, and professional networking opportunities.

## Why Is Manhattan University in the Bronx?

Manhattan University was originally founded in 1853 in Manhattanville, at the intersection of 131st Street and Broadway.

As enrollment grew, the institution moved in 1923 to its current Riverdale campus in the Bronx, where it could expand its academic facilities and residential community.

Despite the move, the University retained its historic name — reflecting its long-standing identity and connection to New York City.

## The World’s Greatest City Is Your Classroom

Few universities offer the experiential learning opportunities found in New York City.

At Manhattan University, the city becomes an extension of the classroom.

More than half of Manhattan students complete internships, many of which lead directly to full-time employment after graduation. With major corporations, startups, nonprofits, media companies, financial institutions, and global organizations headquartered nearby, students gain invaluable professional experience while still in college.

Faculty also incorporate the city into coursework, organizing visits to places such as:

- Wall Street
- The American Museum of Natural History
- The United Nations
- Major media and technology companies

## Experience the City with Your Friends

Students also explore New York City through a variety of campus programs and organizations.

Popular opportunities include:

**Saturdays in the City**
A weekly program organized by residence life that takes students to neighborhoods and attractions across NYC.

**SoNYC Club**
A student group dedicated to exploring the city through events like bike rides through Central Park, food crawls, and cultural outings.

**Student Engagement Events**
The Office of Student Engagement frequently offers discounted tickets to:

- Broadway shows
- New York Yankees games
- Madison Square Garden events
- Museums and concerts

## Why Students Love Manhattan’s Location

Manhattan University students enjoy a rare balance:

✔ A beautiful residential campus
✔ The career advantages of New York City
✔ The community of a small university
✔ The energy and opportunity of a global city

It’s a combination that makes Manhattan University one of the most distinctive college experiences in New York.
