Top 10 Fall Activities for Jaspers

Mid-terms are over and there’s still plenty of fall left to enjoy! Every Jasper should make room on their calendar for these events on campus, in the Bronx and around the city.

1. Manhattan MadnessManhattan Madness

Show your school spirit by cheering on the men’s and women’s basketball teams at Manhattan Madness on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 10 p.m. Join the Jasper dancers, cheerleaders, coaches and other special guests for the official kick-off of basketball season in Draddy Gym! 

2. LatinoFest

Latinofest returns this fall as one of the best Friday nights on campus! Celebrate the culmination of Hispanic Heritage Month with a free dinner and dancing on Friday, Nov. 6 at 8 p.m. in the Kelly Commons.

Quadstock

3. Quadstock

Whether you’re a performer or a fan, Quadstock is a favorite among Jasper traditions and a great way to support live music on campus. Come see your friends and classmates rock out on stage before the main act, starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14 in Draddy.

4. Van Cortlandt Park

Whether you want to lie around or horse around, our neighboring Van Cortlandt Park is the perfect place to enjoy the beautiful fall weather. Take a horseback riding lesson, plan a picnic, take in the fall foliage, or bring a football and start a pick-up game.

5. Bronx ZooGorilla at the Bronx Zoo

Before the cold weather comes, go explore the wonderful Bronx Zoo and visit the animals that call our borough home. If you’re a fan of Halloween fun, Boo at the Zoo runs through Nov. 1. 

6. Little Italy

The real Little Italy, that is. Walk around the Bronx’s Arthur Avenue before relaxing at Tino’s Delicatessen with a cannoli and a hot coffee.

7. New York Botanical GardensNew York Botanical Gardens

Fall is the perfect time to explore the grounds of the New York Botanical Gardens, which is celebrating its 125th anniversary next year. There’s still time to see the breathtaking Frida Kahlo exhibit and check out the Giant Pumpkin Display Oct. 24-25. 

8. Citi Bike

Rent a Citi Bike at one of the hundreds of stations around the city. It’s only $10 for a full day of riding! While the adventurous may take to the streets, another good option is Central Park to see the changing trees.

9. Ghost ToursGhost Tours

Get in the Halloween spirit by going on one of the city’s many guided ghost tours. Bring your friends! You won’t want to do this alone.

10. Farmer’s Markets

There are tons of farmer’s markets throughout the city (including a couple within walking distance of Manhattan College) offering sweet, seasonal treats. We guarantee you can find a pumpkin-spiced something at almost every one.
