Manhattan Named All-Academic Team by USTFCCCA

Men's cross country team recognized for its academic success by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) — two days after the women's cross country team received the same honor.

Two days after the Manhattan College women's cross country team was recognized for its academic success by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the men's squad received the same honor.  The Jaspers, who had five athletes named to the MAAC All-Academic Team, were one of 147 squads named a Division I Cross Country All-Academic Team on Wednesday.  Manhattan had a 3.06 team GPA during the fall semester.

All teams that started at least five runners at their respective NCAA Regional Championship and had a team GPA of 3.00 or higher were eligible for all-academic status.  The Jaspers placed 29th at the NCAA Northeast Regional.

The nation's highest GPA was the 3.81 posted by Chattanooga.  The Scholar Team of the Year, which goes to the program that earned All-Academic honors that had the highest team finish at the NCAA Championships, went to Wisconsin.  The Badgers, who won their fifth National Championship in 2011, had a team GPA of 3.08.
