Manhattan College Presents a Festival of Lessons and Carols Christmas Celebration

The Manhattan College Singers and Orchestra will host their holiday program, A Festival of Lessons and Carols, on Sunday, Dec. 5 at 4:30 p.m. in the Chapel of De La Salle and His Brothers, with preludes beginning at 4:15 p.m.

The Manhattan College Singers and Orchestra will host their holiday program, A Festival of Lessons and Carols, on Sunday, Dec. 5 at 4:30 p.m. in the Chapel of De La Salle and His Brothers, with preludes beginning at 4:15 p.m. The Packer Collegiate Institute String Ensemble, alumni from the Manhattan Singers and the College’s glee club will also take part in the event, which is free and open to the public.

The program is a unique and festive celebration that combines a selection of music, including hymns, readings from sacred Scripture and traditional Christmas carols. The Singers will perform various pieces ranging from baroque and contemporary music, including Carol of the Bells, O Come, O Come, Emmanuel,and Silent Night. The ensembles will combine to lead traditional hymns in which the congregation is invited to participate.
 
Following the concert, the Singers will walk by candlelight onto the Quadrangle and light the College’s Christmas tree. The event will conclude with a reception in Smith Auditorium and an appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus.
