Student Services Representative
Reporting to the Director and Associate Director of Student Financial Aid, representative will be responsible for providing front-line service and for coordinating the flow of student inquiries. Student Service Representatives are the primary contacts for students and parents on all issues related to their student account and financial aid accounts/applications. The representative will develop, negotiate and finalize student financial plans consistent with federal, state and institutional regulations for awarding aid and will screen and direct students/families to appropriate Financial Aid Administration counselors and staff; will work closely with new, continuing and re-entry students and their families to ensure the plan that best fits their needs and eligibility; act as liaison between students, departments and other administrative offices to effectively communicate and collect student information; perform review of activity on student accounts; process data and update the student system and other related financial aid systems with tracking of documents. Coordinate and ensure the safeguards and compliancy of student confidentiality. Contribute to the overall success of the Financial Aid Administration office by performing all other essential responsibilities assigned, i.e., mailing bills/correspondence, answering phones, and retrieving and routing messages and calls. Will represent the department at special events such as Open House, Orientation and workshops. Will assist with some evening and few weekend hours as needed; will collaborate effectively with institutional departments and perform other job related duties as assigned.
High school diploma; some college preferred. All candidates must have at least 2 years in a customer/student service environment and must be committed to quality student service. Proven ability to utilize problem-solving techniques to find solutions to complex problems. Must have analytical ability and ability to prioritize and successfully manage multiple tasks concurrently. Excellent organizational, team building, verbal and written communication skills required. Knowledge and proficiency of MS Office (Word, Excel) necessary to manage financial reports and coordinate all types of written and electronic correspondence. Experience with student systems and familiarity with financial aid a plus.
