Mahmoud Amin

Professor, Electrical & Computer Engineering

Mahmoud Amin (S’09–M’12–SM’16) received his Ph.D. degree from Florida International University, Miami, FL, USA, in 2012. Currently, he is a Professor with Manhattan College, Riverdale, NY, USA. He has published over 70 articles in professional journals and conference proceedings. His current research interests include power systems, adjustable speed drives, power electronics in sustainable energy systems, and smart grid security. He had served on several Editoral board roles (Guest associate editor in IEEE Trans. on Energy Conversion, Topic Editor for Machines MDPI, and Guest editor in IEEE Trans. on Magnetics) and the recipient of the 7x24 University Challenge Award 2019 from Metro New York Chapter, the Intel FPGA University Program Grant Award 2016, as well as the IEEE PES GM 2010 contest award.

    5. Moderating the power laboratory in Leo 305 in order to prepare the new advanced experiments for our students. A laboratory equipment budget of about $35,000 was sponsored by the ECE department as major equipment’s budget prepared to be ordered and then build different testbed stations. These testbed stations served both undergraduate and graduate students in such a way to promote their skills to the experimental level of verifications. Three power electronics and machine drive stations were developed to implement 3-different experiments.  Each testbed station involved two main power sections (power electronics and machine drive boards) and one control section (dSPACE development controller)
