Exercise Science

Program Overview

The Exercise Science program of study is designed to prepare students for leadership positions in a variety of commercial fitness, corporate fitness, sport performance, community recreation/fitness, rehabilitation, wellness, and health promotion environments.

Within this program of study, major courses also provide a solid foundation for continued graduate school study in physical therapy, occupational therapy, exercise physiology, adapted physical activity, health promotion/community health, sport and exercise psychology, athletic training, sports medicine, and other health-related/medical professions.

Exercise Science courses also contribute the requirements for certification as an exercise specialist from the American College of Sport Medicine and/or certification as a certified strength and conditioning specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Both certifications are considered the gold standard within the wellness and fitness promotion field.
