Adolescent Education

Program Overview

The Adolescent Education program leads to certification to teach in grades 7–12. Each student must select an academic concentration from these options:

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • English
  • French
  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Social Studies
  • Spanish

Additionally, adolescent programs focusing on special education are available:

  • Dual Adolescent / Special Education
  • Students with Disabilities Generalist (grades 7-12)

Each term, beginning in the sophomore year, students will be in classrooms. Students begin by observing, then working with an individual or small group under the cooperating teacher's directions. Finally, students will be able to assume complete responsibility for a classroom and the learning experiences of its pupils. Field experiences are designed to be developmental and integral to coursework.
