The theater minor is one of four minors offered by the Visual & Performing Arts department. The minors in this department are designed to supplement majors in numerous disciplines. The minor in theater places a strong emphasis on the historical, analytical, and applied knowledge of the theatrical arts. In addition, the theater minor equips students with the necessary skills not only to succeed in a career in theater and the performing arts, but also provide students an opportunity to sharpen highly sought-after professional business skills, such as interpersonal and oral communication, creative problem solving, the ability to set and articulate collaborative goals, personal motivation and job commitment, the willingness to work cooperatively, self-discipline, and self-confidence.
Students may take advantage of internship programs placing students with theater companies and dance studios throughout New York City.
