De La Salle Week

De La Salle Week celebrates the life, work and legacy of Saint John Baptist de La Salle, founder of the Christian Brothers and patron saint of educators. The week is celebrated each spring and features numerous events that focus on celebrating De La Salle and honoring him as our founder.

De La Salle Week 2013 Events:

Monday, April 15

St. La Salle Week Celebration Mass: 3pm-4:30pm

Join the Manhattan College Community in celebrating St. John Baptist De La Salle during Mass.
Location: Chapel of De La Salle and His Brothers

St. La Salle BBQ on the Quad: 4:30pm-7pm

Join the Manhattan College community for a barbecue on the Quad in celebration of St. John Baptist De La Salle. The students of the Arches program will also be holding a can drive during the BBQ.

Tuesday, April 16

Lasallian Star Photo & Activities on the Quad: 3:30pm-7pm

Members of the Manhattan College community will form a Lasallian star at 4pm on the Memorial Courtyard (formerly known as the Mini-Quad) for a photo to commemorate St. La Salle Week. Other activities include a photobooth, candy bar, beauty prayer, and trivia!

Wednesday, April 17

Eucharistic Minister Appreciation Lunch: 12pm-2pm

All are invited to attend a nice lunch and thank our eucharistic ministers for their service to the Manhattan College community this year.

French Lesson: 3:30pm

In honor of Saint John Baptist de la Salle's French heritage, Professor Nonie Wanger will hold a French lession.

Thursday, April 18

St. La Salle Breakfast: 8:30am-10am

The Manhattan College community is invited for a free continental breakfast in celebration of St. John Baptist De La Salle.

Lasallian Luncheon: 12:20pm-2:20pm

The Manhattan College Community is welcome to join us for lunch and brief discussion. Several Jaspers who participated in the L.O.V.E. trips during the winter break will talk about their experiences.

Friday, April 19

Tour of Artwork in Chapel of De La Salle and His Brothers: 11am-12:30pm

Join Dr. Emmerson, Dean of the School of Arts, for a history behind the artwork featured in the Chapel.

Ice Cream Social with the Brothers: 12:30-2pm

Join the Christian Brothers for ice cream on the Founder's Bridge (between Thomas Hall and O'Malley Library.)
